Whew! The first half of December was quite the month! Billy and I signed up to coach an Upward Basketball team and practices began the first week of December. Alexa decided to cheer, so her practices also began that week. Additionally, Alexa was participating in our church's children's choir which was singing in the Christmas Cafe, and I was one of the narrators for the drama portion, so between sports practices and Cafe rehearsals, we didn't feel like we were spending much time at home! BUT, despite the chaos that sometimes accompanies the holidays, we also made time to enjoy celebrating the season as a family.
On December 3rd, Alexa's school hosted Cookies with Santa, so we met Alexa's friend Maddie and her family up there and the kids enjoyed eating cookies, making crafts, and meeting Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Brody's preschool class has a class 'mascot', Buddy Bear, and it just so happened that the first weekend in December was Buddy Bear's turn to come home with us. He came with us to Cookies with Santa, to birthday party on the 4th, and then to the German Village to see the luminaries on the 6th. My favorite shop at the German Village was the Book Loft! The store took up an entire city block and had three stories of nothing but books! It was amazing, and the kids really enjoyed it as well! Brody came home with a Toy Story book and Alexa found a horse book and a dog book!
The weekend of December 11th was the Christmas Cafe performances (which I don't have any photos of) and the unit Christmas party, where once again, the kids met Santa.
Brody's preschool performance was on December 15th and his class sang two songs! They did so well!
His class party was on the 16th and I was able to help with that - getting a good class photo of 14 four year olds was pretty much impossible, but at least this one isn't blurry!
On the 18th, we let the kids open their family presents from us as well as the Texas relatives - much easier than taking all of those gifts with us to Utah to be opened, and they of course enjoy starting the Christmas celebration early! Its a little harder to get Brody to stay still and 'pose' with his gifts, thus the reason there are more photos of Alexa!
That evening, we went to the lights at the zoo. The Columbus zoo does an amazing job, and while the kids and I had been able to enjoy the event last year, this was Billy's first year to see it! Unfortunately, we were so busy looking at everything that we didn't take many photos of it!
On the 20th, we left for Utah....but those photos will be in another post!
