WE'RE CRAWLING!!!

We're crawling! We're crawling! We're crawling! (Mommy's just a little excited!) Yes, on May 1st after waking up from his afternoon nap, Brody began crawling. He was a little slow at first, but now, one week later, he's my little speed demon! He seems to LOVE his new mobility (who can blame him!?) which makes it a little easier for me since we have hit major mommy attachment mode. If I walked out of the room to do something like, throw away a diaper, he would have a melt down! Now, he can FOLLOW me, making him much happier and allowing me to do things, like dishes, without an almost seventeen pound growth on my hip! I've tried taking a few videos of him displaying his new talent, but none are very good! This is the best, and it's VERY short since he stopped to check out our outlets! (yes, the covers are purchased...this week's project will be plugging them all in...)

It's so cute to see him moving around! His favorite place to be now is in Alexa's room playing with HER toys, much to the dismay of his older sister. He has also started waving "bye bye" and he even said it for the first time yesterday when his physical therapist left! She was thrilled with his progress and we began working on pulling into a stand...maybe we'll have that by his birthday which is two weeks from this Friday...where has the year gone? (check out his front teeth!)

Alexa finishes her first year of preschool next week, so we have been busy putting together our end of year teacher gifts. In Alexa's class, I talked to all the parents about going together and doing a fleece blanket, so each child (with the help of a parent) decorated a square and I am tying them all together. It is turning out so cute!! When it is finished (I'm still waiting on one child's square) I will post a photo! In the meantime, here is her class photo that will be appearing on the blanket!

And lastly, here is an adorable photo of my daughter who has apparently inherited two of my great loves...being outside, and reading!

Oh, and the two cute comments of the week...

Last Friday night, Billy and I attended a military ball. We had a photo made (as you can see). The photo was on the table and the next morning, Alexa casually picked it up and paused. In the cutest, most sincere voice she said, "oh, that's a pretty picture."

Also on Saturday, we were getting ready to watch the Kentucky Derby. Billy was lying down on the couch and Alexa was playing one of her games where she interviews Billy's feet (at least she's creative, right??).
She had asked the feet several questions, and then asked, "Feet, what are you doing?"
Billy answered, "watching the Kentucky Derby."
Without missing a beat, Alexa said, "Oh, do you have eyes, feet?"
Really, nothing gets past that kid.

That cracks me up! Of course he goes straight for the socket! Gideon's doing the "army crawl" like a green beret these days. I'm expecting the real crawling to start any day now... God help us all!
