Exploring the Arts

Alexa has had quite an entertaining week! On March 17th, her friends Karis and Sabrina celebrated their third birthdays with a princess party at the Marionette Theatre in Columbia. All the girls dressed as princesses and enjoyed having their nails painted, picking out sticker ear rings, and eating cake before watching the show, "Puss in Boots". Alexa enjoyed wearing the sticker ear rings so much that now she wants to wear ear rings all the time - I guess it may be time to start thinking about getting those ears pierced.














As if getting to go to a princess party wasn't enough, last night, we attended the Columbia Ballet Company's performance of "Cinderella" with Karis and Juli (neighbors), and Marcy and Hadley(Hadley is in Alexa's preschool class). Alexa, Hadley, and Karis did great, especially considering the ballet did not begin until 8:00pm. It was geared for kids' attention spans though, with three thirty-minute acts and two intermissions. During the intermissions, the girls performed their own rendition of Cinderella, twirling across the auditorium floors!











My poor Brody, however, did not have such an enjoyable week. He had a great Monday, finishing a whole jar of baby food for dinner and clapping his hands for the very first time! However, Tuesday he started running a fever. By Wednesday, he did not want to eat any solids and was sleeping a ton. Thursday we went to the doctor and found out he had both an ear infection and strep. After two days on the antibiotic though, he is MUCH better! He is no longer running a fever, has begun eating solids again, and is smiling and laughing! He will be ten months old tomorrow (unbelievable!) and we go for his nine-month well baby visit on Tuesday (switching doctors threw us off schedule). I'll be sure to post his stats after that visit, although I don't have much hope that his weight will have improved much after being so sick this week...

Of course, my posts are not complete without sharing the latest and greatest wisdom from my daughter's mouth -

Noticing Alexa had one foot in her plastic shopping cart, I told her not to put her weight on it or it would break.

"Ok." She responded, then paused before asking, "Where's my weight?"

(how do you explain that one to a three-year old?)
